Leviticus 16:29-18:30
1.(2012) I'm always fascinated that idolatry is equated to adultery and prostitution. The Church has been and is to be a faithful Bride to the Lord (vs 17:7) :
They must no longer offer any of their sacrifices to the goat idols[c] to whom they prostitute themselves.
2.(2012) God reminds the people that they are "holy", "separate"; that is, set apart for His purposes. He reminds His people that they are merely occupiers of the land being given to them. The people before them were driven out for despicable sexual immorality. The same conditions apply to them as did the prior occupants:
“‘Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled. 25 Even the land was defiled; so I punished it for its sin, and the land vomited out its inhabitants. 26 But you must keep my decrees and my laws. The native-born and the foreigners residing among you must not do any of these detestable things, 27 for all these things were done by the people who lived in the land before you, and the land became defiled. 28 And if you defile the land, it will vomit you out as it vomited out the nations that were before you.

Mark 7:24-8:10
1.(2012) The SyroPhoenician Woman. This passage always confirms to me that Jesus did not originally come to the Gentiles but to his own people:
She begged Jesus to drive the demon out of her daughter.

27 “First let the children eat all they want,” he told her, “for it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”

28 “Lord,” she replied, “even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs.”

29 Then he told her, “For such a reply, you may go; the demon has left your daughter.”
