Numbers 11:24-13:33
1. 12:3-Now Moses was a very humble man, more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth. I love Henry's comment on the humility/meekness of Moses:

God's people are the meek of the earth (Zep. 2:3), but some are more remarkable than others for this grace, as Moses, who was thus fitted for the work he was called to, which required all the meekness he had and sometimes more. And sometimes the unkindness of our friends is a greater trial of our meekness than the malice of our enemies.

2. I'm struck by this description of a man (who was a prince) who faced Pharoah and led hundreds of thousands through a wilderness: more humble than anyone else on the face of the earth.

Surely he acted like a leader but here Moses is described as humble & meek at a crisis point in his leadership when his role and authority is challenged. I know some leaders who could stand to learn from Moses: when his siblings (Aaron & Miriam) contend, "Has the LORD spoken only through Moses?"...Hasn't he also spoken through us?"

Moses would eventually intercede on behalf of his sister, Miriam, who was made leprous by her rebellion and subsequent anger of the LORD burning against her.

"Oh God, please heal her!"

The LORD reminded Moses that it was appropriate for Miriam to be disgraced and so she was confined outside the camp for 7 days.

Nevertheless, Moses exercises extreme mercy or risky intercession. Perhaps this is why he is memorialized as being so humble: that he didn't seek vengeance or hold a grudge even when he was attacked by those people closest to him.
