Ezekiel 24:1-26:21
1. (2014) "In the city of bloodshed" - Ezekiel is to tell God's people a parable about meat cooking in a pot over a wood fire; then a coal fire (vss 1-14):
a. to pick the best of the flock; vs 5
b. to pick the best of the bones; vs 4
c. the pot is encrusted with a "deposit" (blood?); vs 6
2. (2014) the blood is on "bare rock" not in the dust so as not to be covered; vss 7,8
3. (2014) The empty copper pot is set on the coals till it glows red in order to cleanse it of impurities
a. but the impurities and deposit are not removed even by fire (vs 11-12)
4. (2014) "Now your impurity is lewdness"
5. (2014) God's wrath is for cleansing and will not subside till finished (vs 14)
6. (2014) God takes Ezekiel's wife (vss 15-25): the delight of your eyes
a. As a sign to God's people:
I am about to desecrate my sanctuary—the stronghold in which you take pride, the delight of your eyes, the object of your affection. The sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword.
Hebrews 11:1-16

2.(2014) I think the following verse describes my first interest in studying Scripture: the premise that God exists and that Scripture is His communication to mankind. Originally, I didn't comprehend that Scriptures are historical documents, records or archaeological evidence. I hadn't any understanding of the method of transcription exercised by ancient Hebrew scribes and teachers:
And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
3.(2014) Descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and sands on the seashore - This verse always makes me think that stargazing and seashores should evoke not only a sense of awe in Creation and God's handwork but also of God's faithfulness in keeping His promises:
And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she[b] considered him faithful who had made the promise. 12 And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.
4. (2014) Longing for a better country - a heavenly one:
All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. 14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

1. (2014) Perhaps a good reason extraverts are misunderstood. Wisdom teaches that blatant or highly visible and explicit compliments, flattery or blessings are suspicious:
If anyone loudly blesses their neighbor early in the morning,
it will be taken as a curse.
