Joshua 19:1-20:9
Luke 19:28-48
1.(2012) Jesus weeps over Jerusalem.
41 As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it 42 and said, “If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace—but now it is hidden from your eyes. 43 The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side. 44 They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God’s coming to you.”Almost unconsciously every evangelical church I've attended celebrates "Palm Sunday". It celebrates the arrival of the King to his people. I've never seen or heard any "pause" for this scene where Christ weeps over the city; for those who "did not recognize the time of God's coming to you". I should remember to be so vigilant.
2.(2012) A den of thieves. A warning to those who'd use the Church for personal financial gain.
“‘My house will be a house of prayer’[b]; but you have made it ‘a den of robbers.’[c]”
Psalm 88:1-18
