Judges 6:1-40
1.(2012) Another reference to the Israelites forgetting their Lord or turning to evil:
1 Again the Israelites did evil in the eyes of the LORD, and for seven years he gave them into the hands of the Midianites....then crying out to Him:
6 Midian so impoverished the Israelites that they cried out to the LORD for help.2.(2012) I find it interesting that Gideon asks his question but the angel doesn't answer it directly. Makes me think Gideon's question didn't make sense or was un-answerable:
3 “But sir,” Gideon replied, “if the LORD is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our fathers told us about when they said, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and put us into the hand of Midian.” 14 The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”3.(2012) The Lord is Peace.
22 When Gideon realized that it was the angel of the LORD, he exclaimed, “Ah, Sovereign LORD! I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face!”
23 But the LORD said to him, “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.”
24 So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD is Peace.
Luke 22:54-23:12
Psalm 95:1-96:13
Proverbs 14:5-6
(2012)This is more poignant this year than ever:
5 A truthful witness does not deceive,
but a false witness pours out lies.
(2012) A friend this year has been asking for prayer for a 3 yr-old, Ava, who had neural surgery last week and waiting on a biopsy report on a brain tumor: it's NOT cancer. Praise God! I can't imagine. So I shared these verses on FaceBook:Judges 6:23-24; Ps 95 & 96
23 But the LORD said to him, “Peace! Do not be afraid. You are not going to die.”
24 So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
6 Come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the LORD our Maker;
7 for he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care.
1 Sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Sing to the LORD, praise his name;
proclaim his salvation day after day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
